ELEMENTARY 5              Graded by Age and Previous Experience

Elementary 5 Ballet    Ballet and Pointe Combination        (2 Classes per week required)

• Tuesday 6:00-7:15 (NP)
• Thursday 6:00-7:15 (DM)
• Friday 5:00-6:15*(NP)
  * No recital dance, technique only.

This level is graded by age and previous experience. These are 1 1/4 hour classes in which pointe is introduced at the end of each class. Because of pointe instruction, students must attend class at least two times per week. Emphasis on proper technique and body positions are stressed throughout the year, as well as proper pointe techniques. Students may perform with The Brandywine Ballet Company in their winter and spring productions if they qualify. Details can be found on the Performing Opportunities page of this website.

Elementary 5 Jazz        

• Tuesday 7:15-8:00 (KC)

This class is graded strictly by age and previous experience. popular music of today is used for instruction in this class with a main emphasis on jazz  techniques, stretching, coordination exercises and age appropriate jazz  combinations. Ballet is not required  to take Jazz ,  but it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

Elementary 5 Hip Hop

• Thursday 7:15-8:00 (JB)

This class is graded strictly by age and previous experience. popular music of today is used for instruction in this class with a main emphasis on  hip hop techniques, stretching, coordination exercises and age appropriate  hip hop combinations. Ballet is not required  to take Hip Hop, but it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

Elementary 5 Modern          

• Wednesday 5:00-5:45 (TE)

This class gives the dancer an opportunity to reach beyond his/her technical ballet training into a more abstract, yet very structured form of dance. It is sometimes described as a form of ballet with a more modern, flowing feel. Ballet is not required to take Modern Dance, but it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.
