WHY TRAIN WITH US?
The Dance Center/ Brandywine Ballet is a one-of-a-kind studio that has earned the reputation as one of the top pre-professional training institutions in the tri-state area. The center is highly regarded by The Philadelphia Dance Alliance and the Pennsylvania Council of the Arts. Our ballet schedule is consistent, well-organized and is based on the Vaganova Method of Ballet (Russian Method) which ALL our faculty follow when instructing their classes. As a result, the school trains in one style of classical dance allowing the students to have a sense of continuity from Level l right through Level 6 which prepares them for the pre-professional division of the school at age l3. Our pre-school and pre-ballet programs for children ages 3 to 6 are taught by the principal teachers of the school as are the students in the Elementary Division. This concept of training students correctly and thoroughly at a very young age has been the crux of the superior dancers our school has produced. Consistency in young training is essential to growth, improvement, and enjoyment in ballet. As the students reach the highest level of our pre-professional division, more freedom of style and artistry is offered to prepare them for their post-high school experiences.
The Dance Center has been training dancers for 30 years in Chester County. Not only does the studio provide their dancers with a professional faculty, a state-of-the-art facility, a structured, organized curriculum, it also provides students with a professional-level performing opportunity with The Brandywine Ballet Company, (www.brandywineballet.com) of which The Dance Center is the official school. The Brandywine Ballet (BBC) is a non-profit corporation registered with the Pennsylvania Bureau of Charitable Organizations. This is a totally separate organization from The Dance Center. Young dancers in the Elementary Elite Division have the opportunity to perform with the BBC in their annual Christmas production of “Nutcracker” and their spring and/or fall production of a full-length story ballet. Teen-age dancers have the opportunity to perform with the BBC by audition only. Auditions are held each fall for those students who qualify technically in the tri-state area.
This full-scale dance program from start to finish is the perfect blend of training and performing that all dancers need to succeed in a professional ballet company or in a well-respected dance college - whatever they choose after high school. Modern Jazz, Modern Dance and Tap students are coached and trained in the same professional manner with a strong emphasis on continuing ballet technique, since ballet is the most important training background to have for success in all other forms of dance.
