The Dance Center’s Annual Student Recital

Annually, The Dance Center ends the year with a student recital. This year the student recital will be held at on Friday, June 15 and Saturday, June 16, 2011 at Downingtown West High School. Mandatory dress rehearsals for the recital will be held at the high school the week prior – (the exact dates will be announced after the winter school season when the high school knows the exact date of its graduation). All students are encouraged to participate in the student recital, but it is not mandatory. Below is the list of classes that will be included in each recital. Please consider the schedule carefully if you have more than one dancer in the family so they can both participate in the same recital if you so choose. (Sometimes the schedule does not work out for both children to be in the same recital.) Again, attendance at dress rehearsals the week before the recital is mandatory.

Brandywine Ballet Company's production of

"THE NUTCRACKER"

Ballet students in Elementary 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are invited to participate in Brandywine Ballet's production of "The Nutcracker" every December. Complete information will be handed out during the second week of classes in September. Elementary 1, 2 and 3  Ballet students are eligible for the part of "Angel" or "Mother Ginger" in the Nutcracker. Casting will be decided solely by the Artistic Staff.  Elementary  4, 5, and 6 must join the "Elite Division" of the school in order to be eligible for a part in the Nutcracker. *See details below

Elementary "Elite" Division:

The Dance Center's Elite Division is a group of talented, hard-working young dancers performing age-appropriate parts with the Brandywine Ballet in their annual full-length production of The Nutcracker. The Dance Center feels too much pressure is placed on young students who have to "audition" to be a part of a young, performing group. Therefore, the opportunity is given to anyone in Elementary  4, 5, and 6 to join the Elite Division and perform with Brandywine Ballet in The Nutcracker*.

*The following requirements must be fulfilled in order to participate:

*Dancers in Elementary 4,5, and 6 Ballet must attend at least two Ballet classes per week.

*Each dancer must be available to rehearse for the Brandywine Ballet productions on Friday evenings, Saturday and/or Sunday afternoons. These 3 days represent a "range" of rehearsal times. No rehearsals for the Brandywine Ballet productions are done during class time.

*Each dancer will be charged a separate performance fee from the Brandywine Ballet (not The Dance Center).

* More detailed information is handed out during the second week of classes in September. For more information, contact the Brandywine Ballet office directly at (6l0) 692-6402 or brandywineballet.com

Brandywine Ballet Company's Production of "Beauty & The Beast"

Students in Elementary 4, 5 and 6 are invited to participate in the Brandywine Ballet Company's premier production of Beauty and the Beast held at West Chester University in April of 2012.   Specific details will be handed out the first week of January, 2012.
